DUI Crash Injures 2; Leads to Lakeville Road Shut down

Lakeville – A drunk and unlicensed driver was hospitalized together with his passenger after hitting a utility pole along Lakeville Road Tuesday, reports said.

According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) authorities, the accident occurred around 7:40 p.m. The driver apparently struck the pole while traveling north close to No. 3 Old Lakeville Road, reports added.

As a result, the power lines and the pole were brought near to the roadway because of the force of the crash. Authorities had to shut down the northbound and southbound directions of the road for safety reasons.

Meanwhile, CHP officials identified the suspect as 26-year-old Juan Rodriguez-Cruz. During the accident, he was with 20-year-old Luis Rodriguez-Cruz. Both of them were rushed to the Petaluma Valley Hospital after sustaining minor injuries.

It was still unclear if the driver was arrested, but reports said that he didn’t have a driver’s license and was suspected to be under the influence when the accident happened.
