Customer Dies after SUV Crashes into Starbucks in Fillmore

Fillmore, Ventura County - A 30-year old man died from multiple internal injuries when an SUV driven by an off-duty La County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Cedarland crashed into a Starbucks in Fillmore, police reports said.
Investigators said the accident occurred at around 7 pm in 650 block of Ventura Street. Witnesses said they saw the vehicle veered across two lanes of the traffic before it jumped the curb and hit the building. It hit the wall and went through the lobby and came to rest at the front door.
The victim, who was pinned between the door frame and the car, was taken to Ventura County Medical Center but died later during surgery. His two other companions had only minor injuries and were later released after treatment.
Police ruled out alcohol or drugs as factors in the accident but believed that the driver may have lsot consciousness or asleep while driving.
