Greensboro- An aged school teacher has sued Thomasville City Schools for denying promotion on the basis of her age, according to US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Reports said Thomasville City Schools administration refused to promote Arlene Lent, 54 years old, for two assistant principal positions in years 2007 and 2008 because of her age. The management promoted two younger, but less qualified, teachers instead.

As stated in the lawsuit, Lent met the minimum qualifications for the position and had obtained her North Carolina principal's license. She also has 16 years of teaching experience.

Lent reported the misconduct with EEOC, in which the federal agency filed the lawsuit at the Middle District of North Carolina. Thomasville City Schools administration agreed to pay $25,000 as settlement as well as comply with EEOC anti-discrimination regulations.
