Santa Ana – A California jury has absolved Yamaha Motor Corporation USA from liability for injuries suffered by a man who crashed driving one of the company’s Rhino brand of vehicles.

The case was one of more than 170 lawsuits involving Rhino which were filed in California and heard in Orange County Superior Court.

Richard Holt, the complainant in the case, said the defects in his 2005 Rhino 660 caused the rollover that fractured two bones in his left leg. However, Yamaha said that the jury’s verdict proved that the vehicle’s design did not cause the crash.

The company faces more than 400 other lawsuits over the Rhino in Kentucky and Georgia.
