Madera – Authorities are trying to determine the cause of a helicopter accident that killed at least three biologists from the California Department of Fish and Games and the aircraft’s pilot that occurred south of Redinger Lake in Sierra National Forest last January 5.

According to news reports, the three male biologists belong to a team that were performing deer surveys along the wooded and remote area near the Madera and Fresno county line.

Police said the crash site was made inaccessible due to the fire that was triggered by the crash. Fortunately, the fire progression was slowed down by moisture and light winds.
