Woman Escapes Doomed Air France Flight but Dies in Car Crash

Rio de Janeiro – An Italian senior citizen who missed the doomed Air France flight 447 from Brazil on May 31 escaped the tragic plane accident that killed 228 people but died days later in a car accident.

News reports said Johanna Ganthaler and her husband took another flight to Europe after they missed the flight and were driving home to Bolzano Bozen province in Italy when they collided with a truck. The accident occurred in a road in Kufstein, Austria.

Ganthaler died instantly in the crash while her husband suffered from serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.
