$ 150,000 Settlement made for Discriminated Employees

O'Neal and Little v Employer

Labor and Employment law

This is one of the labor and employment cases successfully settled by the Mesriani Law and Associates for its clients, Mr. O’Neal and Mr. Little.

Mr. O’Neal and Mr. Little are African Americans who had been working for an Employer for less than a year. During those times, the two often hear ‘racially derogatory comments’ from their co-workers. Once, a co-worker introduced Mr. O’Neal to a new employee as ‘our black guerilla’. Likewise, Mr. Little received the same insulting and stereotyped comments, especially on ethnic food.

When the two complained about the discriminatory treatment that they were receiving, they were demoted and their performance, which was above-average level, were severely criticized by their immediate supervisor.

Consequently, before filing a lawsuit, the two sent demand letters to their Employer, through the assistance of Mesriani Law & Associates, for potential claims on race discrimination and retaliatory acts.

Shortly after receiving the demand letters, an arrangement was made and the issue was settled for the sum of $ 150,000.
